Graham has been involved in the coal mining industry for over 35 years. Originally a geologist, he worked in South Africa from 1980 to 1996, in companies that were fore-runners to Billiton.
After the merger of Randcoal and Trans Natal to form Ingwe Coal Corporation, Graham moved to Indonesia to establish the coal business there. He later took over as President Director of PT Indonesia, managing all the company’s assets there.
In 2001, following the merger of BHP and Billiton, Graham moved to the head office in Melbourne as Vice President Strategy for the new organisation.
In 2002, he returned to the UK to establish a consultancy business that resulted in projects in Madagascar, Russia, Colombia and Indonesia. He joined the Firebird Group in 2010, of which Sharyn Gol in Mongolia was the primary asset, and he was the CEO of this and other coal entities in Mongolia until early 2014.
He has been with SUEK since mid 2014 leading a programme of investing opportunities in the international coal and energy market in the role of Advisor to the CEO, International development.
