David completed his B Sc and PhD degrees in geology in the U.K. before taking a position as geologist with Impala Platinum in 1980. He subsequently joined the Bushveld Research Institute as a research geologist at the University of Pretoria before embarking, with his long-standing business partner, Rudolph de Bruin, on finding and developing entrepreneurial mineral exploration opportunities throughout Africa. David was a founding member and executive director of Platmin, Sephaku Holdings, SepFluor, Taung Gold and other exploration/mining companies. More recently, he became one of the founding partners of AMED Funds, a private equity group that invests primarily in mineral development opportunities in Africa. David has published extensively in geological journals and has exploration, research and executive management experience in companies involved with a wide range of mineral commodities, from industrial minerals to base and precious metals. He is a fellow of the Geological Society of London and a member of the Society of Economic Geologists.
